South SF Bay News publication area employers filed 1,983 H-2A petitions throughout 2024

Employers based in the South SF Bay News publication area submitted 1,983 H-2A petitions during 2024, according to data provided by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-2A Employer Data Hub.

Of these, 1,981 were approved (99.9%), while two were denied (<0.1%).

The H-2A visa program allows U.S. employers to hire foreign workers for temporary or seasonal agricultural jobs when enough domestic workers are unavailable. Compared to 2023, the publication area saw a 48.3% decrease in the number of H-2A petitions during 2024.
