How did home valuation prices perform in Santa Clara County during second half of 2024?

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2024 in Santa Clara County rose by $78,500, while total sales increased by 15.4%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2024, 6,586 homes were sold in the county, with a median sale price of $1,526,500. This is a 5.4% increase over the $1,448,000 median sale price during the same period in 2023, when there were 5,706 homes sold.

Based on the latest available data from 2021, the median sales tax in Santa Clara County was $8,207, which stands at 0.5% of the median home sale price for the second half of 2024.

The U.S. housing market has surged in recent years, with its total value approaching $50 trillion in 2024—nearly five times its value in 2000.
“The value of America’s housing market will likely cross the $50 trillion threshold in the next 12 months as there are not enough homes being listed to push prices down,” said Redfin Economics Research Lead Chen Zhao.
